Rajendra Pachauri is the current Chief Mentor of the Protect Our Planet movement (POP) and the President of the World Sustainable Development Forum (WSDF). In 2007, the Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) was awarded the Noble Peace prize for the effort in building up and disseminating “greater knowledge about man-made climate change […]” and Pachauri, as its president, chosen to be the recipient of the prize which was shared, in equal parts, with the former Vice-president of the United States of America Al Gore. Rajendra Pachauri was president of the Intergovernamental Panel for Climate Change between the years of 2002 and 2015.

Besides his work on the IPCC, Rajendra Pachauri was involved in many other projects and organizations such as his participation on the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime-Minister of India; or his several participations in committees and international councils, including Toyota or the Global Humanitarian Forum; he has also workedas the General-Director of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), a think tank dedicated to the investigation for the sustainable growth of India and the Global South;.

As an academic, Rajendra Pachauri has edited or co-edited dozens of books and hundreds of reports, most of which focused on energy and environment themes. He was also a professor, assistant professor or visiting professor in many universities from all over the world. He was distinguished and honoured for his work several times and has received State awards in India and France.
